Star Brand basketball shoes, in original box, purchased by my father in 1945, just before he started his junior year in high school.
He has a habit of dating everything he purchases, and this is no exception. The end of the box carrying the product name has the pencil notation, “8-12-45,” in his handwriting. They were purchased in downtown Freeport, Illinois, likely at the now-defunct Messing & Becker Sporting Goods.
The shoes are natural plain toe blucher. Each shoe features a round logos on the inside upper from B.F. Goodrich, producer of the shoe’s soles.
Unknown size, but the shoes are 12” long and the widest part of the soles is 4”, putting them in the neighborhood of a men’s 11.
Original box measures 13” x 7” x 5”.
Manufactured by Roberts, Johnson & Rand, a division of International Shoe Company, St. Louis.

Any conditions assigned to items listed for sale are based on a conservative, albeit amateur, opinion, so please examine available images closely and come to your own conclusion.
Combined shipping available on multiple purchases upon request. That means that if an order contains at least one item with a shipping charge, although other items in the order are listed with free shipping, there will be a charge--the lowest possible given the combined items. On listings where multiple copies of the same item are listed, labels associated with a color such as "Item Name-Yellow” or “Item Name-Purple" refer only to the color of the background used for identification purposes.
